The main disadvantages I see: If your portable devices are out of battery, you can't add something to your diary If the software fails, you can lose your data They require mobile data or WiFi to synchronise Somebody could hack into it. Someone in another thread asked what the disadvantages of electronic diaries were the way I see it: They're all things I could live without and just deal with a diary but it makes life so much easier. I do sometimes write lists down on paper if I'm going to action them quickly like cleaning the house, same-day shopping list or some short tasks in work. It automatically picks up Outlook calendar events and calculates travel time and public transport routes for me to get places on time. when I'm 100metres from Tesco it reminds me of my shopping list and I can tick individual items off easily. I've started to use Google Now/Keep more recently as you can set location-based reminders e.g. Android and the iPad are good at keeping shared Google Calendars sync'd alongside Exchange ones which is handy. I use my work/personal university Outlook calendars and it syncs emails, calendar, notes, reminders and tasks across my Android phone, Linux laptop, Windows work PCs, iPad, and has a handy web interface if I get caught out.
